HARRISBURG – An inmate from Mount Carmel has been linked to a $1.7-million drug ring involving phony prescriptions for painkillers. State Attorney General Kathleen Kane announced 48-year-old Thomas Herbert Jones, who had been housed at the Northumberland County Prison, has been charged with multiple counts of fraud, forgery and deception along with drug offenses. Jones is accused of having fraudulent prescriptions filled to obtain oxycodone, which he would sell. The prescriptions were written on prescription pads stolen from physicians across the state.
